BirdSounds Costa Rica Lite provides a curated collection of 136 audio recordings representing 30 bird species native to Costa Rica. The app has been developed with a focus on user-friendly navigation and detailed content presentation, making it a valuable resource for ornithologists and bird enthusiasts alike.

The application offers high-quality recordings of 30 Costa Rican bird species, with tracks contributed by esteemed field recordist Peter Boesman, along with contributions from Dodge Engleman, Gunter De Smet, Andrew Spencer, Ken Allaire, John V. Moore, and others. The collection includes multiple songs and calls for many species, providing a comprehensive auditory overview.

Key features include an intuitive waveform display that visually indicates playback progress, as well as a search function enabling rapid retrieval of species by any portion of their name. Birds are organized by taxonomic groups or alphabetically for ease of browsing. Additional information accompanies most tracks, detailing the recording location and date.

The app supports four different playback modes, including options for repeating individual tracks or all recordings associated with a particular species. Users can create customized lists of favorite species for quick access and can also view a list of the twenty most recently accessed species to facilitate efficient navigation.

Designed to operate independently after installation, BirdSounds Costa Rica Lite does not require an internet connection during use. The program was developed by BirdSounds.nl and programmed by Harold Mills.
